The Black Door

The inside front door was previously painted off white. While the door itself was fine, it was just a tad boring. I had seen this post, on one of my favorite blogs, and was inspired. Black it is. I (by I, I really mean my dearest husband) used an oil based high gloss paint by Benjamin Moore, in pure black.

Before:

This picture is from when we were touring the home before we bought it. Notice that we've repainted, changed the flooring, changed the brass hardware, and added wainscotting.

After:

The black door looks so much classier.

When we were first finished it, I always did a double take at night as I thought the door was open lol. I love the rich, gorgeous look. A quick job that makes such a difference!

This is my first attempt at an after shot. I guess my 3 year old thought it was too blah, and decided to embellish it.

I love it! We just painted our exterior side dark charcoal and I definitely plan on doing the inside too- leaning more to black like yours though- looks fantastic! I love your wainscotting and huge modlings too:) Have a great weekend!!

I want to do this to my door so bad! I guess I waited too long because now it's too cold! I love the way your kid decorated--looks like something my kids would love!

Love the door! I've been thinking of going black for a while but a little gun shy! Seeing yours in definitely inspiring enough to give me the last push though! Looks great!

Totally love the black...I've been thinking of doing something to my front door, also! I'm not sure if the black would be too dark in the small entry we have. It's a good idea to keep me thinking!

This is perfect. It looks so rich. I am debating this right and in fact, blogged about it last night - only going the sarah richardson route with a red on the inside. Now i'm convinced.

Just stopping by from Met Monday. I painted mine black, too and so glad I did. Your door looks amazing as do the wood floors! I had to cringe when I saw all all the letters!! Oh how I remember those days but mine were all over the kitchen floor and refrigerator!! They didn't realize the front door was metal, too!!!
