Today I read how Julia, from Hooked on Houses, recently added an Ektorp sofa with a white slipcover to her sunroom. It inspired me to show you my own Ektorp which we purchased over the weekend.
I've made some progress in the sunroom. While I was going to originally wait until it was all 'done' for the final reveal, I realized this would take some time. I also love watching how room designs evolve on other blogs, so I thought I'd share the progress of this room with you.
The new sofa:
I envisioned a light, airy, white sofa, and the Ektorp did the trick. We splurged on a high quality, Restoration Hardware sofa in the living room, and needed a more economical choice in here. I love it! I really don't think I would have been any happier with a more expensive option. I'm considering the Ektorp chaise for the other side of the room.
The mantel is still being styled, but here's where we are at now:
The old window is from my Grandmother's house. I plan on adding a small moss wreath to it, and perhaps changing out the other accessories.
I love the corner cabinet in this room. It suits the style of the sunroom perfectly.
The small table in front of the loveseat is a perfect fit for this space. I had originally wanted a slipcovered ottoman, but I think I'll repaint this piece (once my chalk paint arrives) and see how I like it. I plan to add baby tears to the planter. Unfortunately the ones in there before didn't survive the move.
I can't decide if the cat is tacky or not. It was my Grandmother's, and I always loved it in her home. This may not be a piece that I would pick up if I saw it in a store, but it reminds me of Grandma's, so I love it =)
I still have the other half of the sunroom to furnish and accessorize. This is quickly becoming my favorite room in the house! It may be a while before we finish this room up as we're currently busy painting the rest of the house...busy times!
Have a fabulous day!

That sofa is amazing and my eyes are always drawn to white. Just lovely!
I'm in the midst of redoing my sunroom too! In fact, it just got painted yesterday and it looks a lot like the color you're using. I would love that sofa in my sunroom but for now I have a small loveseat in a muted khaki color...maybe I'll order a white slipcover for it.
Can't wait to see your sunroom reveal.

LOVE LOVE the way your sunroom is coming along Andrea!! The new sofa is fabulous and I love how you accessorized the mantel! Martina
Oh, yay, I'm so glad you posted these photos. What a beautiful sunroom! I love the stone fireplace, and your Ektorp looks great there. Thanks for inviting us in!
P.S. I just realized your tile floor looks almost exactly like what I have in my sunroom, too. :)
The cat's perfect...
I just have to tell you how beautiful your new home is!! Just stunning. I'm a little jealous. ;) Your new sunroom looks so calm and clean. Love it!
love the cat. keep it there for sure!
love this room. The white sofa looks great. I love my PB one in my sun room.
Your sunroom is lovely!
Love the sunroom and of course I love the Ektorp .... and hey, white IS my favorite color.
I think my grandmother had that cat. I say keep it. White glossy ceramic animals are in.
Oh what a gorgeous house & room!! I love that corner cabinet too, it looks so loved. Definitely adding you to my blog roll!
What a beautiful room, Andrea. I love the sofa. I definitely think the addition of a chaise or chair would look so good too :)
Very nice room. Good choice on the sofa, but I just had to comment on your ceramic kitty cat...it's so funny I have never seen anyone else with one. I have a set of three (mother, and two kittens) that I got for my 13th birthday from my mom...we were very poor and she took all the money she had to buy them for me because I liked them so much....I cherish them to this day and will never part with them...yours it very large and beautiful.
That room is gorgeous- the windows and trim are amazing. Love the new sofa- so clean and fresh in the space and yes, keep the cat- I love quirky porcelain animals!!!
This room looks like a the perfect place to hide away and read a book. Love your new sofa and the beautiful corner cabinet is amazing!
Love the sofa in there! Saw you on Oakridge Revival... Great blog! Beautiful home.
I am a new blogger and sometimes find myself caught up in the numbers, but then I remind myself that I am doing this because I really enjoy it.

What a lovely room, Andrea! I'm crazy about your fireplace, love the wall colours and find the Ektorp sofa helps to make the space homey and inviting. You're doing a great job so far... looking forward to decor evolution!! ;-)

Your room is turning out just lovely! We are considering the Ektorp sofa. What really want is three times as much so I keep going back to the Ektorp.
I was going to comment on how pretty and unusual the cat was before I read you were unsure about it. I'd keep it, especially since it has such sentimental meaning to you.
Loved your sunroom. The white sofa looks nice with the bamboo blinds and the stone mantel.
There are so many things to love about your entire house, not just your sun room :) Love it all... glad you shared. The mill work (so crisp and bright) shows off all of your accents.
Glad you shared
