Cottage Living Room....The Reveal!

Our living room has been a work in progress since we moved in over two years ago. I struggled with finding just the right look and feel for this room. Our furniture was a mix of pieces from our old home and a few pieces we bought when we moved in, and none of it was working well together.

In the fall of 2012, I discovered Holly Mathis. Her style and look was exactly what I was trying to achieve in my home (you have to check out her projects and her own home.....they are amazing!). I had never used an e-designer before, but thought I would give it a try. Sooooo glad I did!

This was the initial mood board that she sent me:

The design was a collaboration of our ideas and what I already had in the space that we felt would work (or was too expensive to change!).

I will do a full post on sources, before pictures, and details, but for now, I'm going to show you the finished room!

Cottage Living Room After:

As you can see by the drywall patches on the walls, we're not quite done the kitchen yet, but it's coming along! Here's a sneak peek for now.

......and a sneak peek of the dining room!

Another sneak peek of the dining room =)

I am so in love with the new look. This room, which was once a hodge podge of furniture that didn't suit the feel I was going for, is now the perfect farmhouse/cottage space that I was hoping for. I can't thank Holly enough for her help!

As for the dining room and kitchen.....they're almost done!

Linking my living room to these parties:

I'd love for you to follow along with me on Instagram,  Pinterest, and Twitter.

Love it!!! The slipcovered furniture makes all the difference. You know how much I adore white slipcovers! I love the checked drapes in your dining room and the peek of the kitchen is so pretty. It all flows so well together.

Just found you through Between Naps on the Porch and love your living room. It's so pulled together but still cozy. I've been eyeing the same sofa at RH ~ slipcovered in the Belgain linen. Can you tell me what color you have? I'm thinking about the natural color so I can drape seasonal quilts over the back.

It turned out so beautifullly! I like how she brought it all together. Did you get anything new with her, or did she work with what you had?

I found your blog through Holly and wanted to comment about how beautiful your new spaces are! I love that check on your drapes!! Also, could you tell me about your sofa? I read in the comments someone said it was RH...if so, I have been looking at the same one I think?? It is slipcovered? Can you speak to how the fabric works with little children around? :) I too will soon have three little people in my home!! Thanks!
